Processing..

So here we are at that point where things can and will go wrong, but they will usually find a way to get fixed, but the stress and time factors are working against us most of the time. Anyhow, weve manage to avert crisis and keep moving forward, while still smiling every now and then and still managing to get our fade on. Picture story time...

Michael Garlinghouse and the Minneapolis dudes sent over a tape. Good stuff of Michael, Kevin Meland (who helped keep me sane once on a random minneapolis mission), and Brett Dasovic came included. Thanks a ton Michael!

My friends from texas also sent me a tape. A couple Jason Howard moves and other H-Town shredders (im drawing a blank on names). Good stuff though. Thanks J-HO aka Jay Hills aka Tha J-Hound.

We started using a dv deck that KG came through with and the sh*t is tight. Its like a UFO control panel that pops out. Big thanks to Kevin for everything btw.. dude got me a job, drove me there for 3 months while i didnt have a car, sticks up for me everytime im about to get fired, kicks it on the regs, chiefs hard, teaches me everything he knows about to design, and is so down for the Fade Nation project. Thanks for everything Kevin. Sorry kinda went off topic there.. but heres negrete gettin his dj on with the "new to us" (but day of the rope old.. literally) dv deck.

So.. weve had the stuff kinda seperated onto 2 computers.. not entirely, but there was stuff on each of ours that the other did not have. Anyways, in the midst of attempting to gets things and what-not, i accidentally deleted like 50 clips.. SH*T!!! Well after digging around through cds and backed up stuff we only managed to lose 3 tricks of jeremy beightol (super bummer.. they were fresh). But heres me in my attempt to recover them but unfortunately, no dice.

SMOKEY!

Lee Martin Arts.

Michael Gorsky foooootage while Brandon cleans up the Blacktory. Good Chase Rushing, Michael Stein, Fritz P. stuff included.

bruce LEE

We like to treat ourselves every now and then.. Negrete opted for the Gin & Juice snoopy dog style..

Me.. yup.

1/4 Negrete face.

Lee watched the kitties and scrubs while we went out. Turn 21 already dude..

I look like im at a rave..

and that about it for now.. we got most everything covered.. the disc and cover art go out today, dvd on monday. Premier in 2 weeks (August 31st)... downtown LA-ish area.. start planning to be out there that night.

Thanks for reading stoppin by again..

Black Lipstick

Back when i first saw The Octopus Project open for Four Tet in like 2002, i knew they were onto something. I bought their cd that they had (Identification Parade) and started digging around and looking for anything i could find by them.

Identification Parade Album Cover.

Along my search i found a cd they had made called "The Black Octopus Lipstick Project" which was a collaboration between them (The Octopus Project) and another band called "Black Lipstick." It turns out that Black Lipstick is from Austin (which is where i went to middle and high school) and also puts out really cool music. When i mentioned to Negrete that their label was being cool about The Octopus Project rights he was like "Wait, so we can use a Black Lipstick song? I really like those guys." I was like "Probably.." and then he disappeared.

Around $10 and 30 mins later we had their new album entitled "Sincerely, Black Lipstick" and it was on. Negrete Found a cool song and started cuttin up the part. Anyways, you can check them out here: Black Lipstick

After talking we secured both Black Lipstick and The Octopus Project to have songs in Fade Nation. YAY! Happy digging.

More Footage Collecting

Last week Lee and I went to pick up some new skates(thanks phillip and USD). The only problem was that they were sent to Haffeys house in Ontario so we had to ride out early to beat the traffic.

Picked up the goods.

Out the box.

Bakers stop.

Then we were off to Laguna to meet up with Marcus and get some of his footage from Carl Sturgess. Ended up chilling at their place for most of the day watching HBO and waiting on Hot Carl.
Marcus and Crystal kickin it.

Carl and Alejoh. same angle

It was worth the wait when Carl broke us off with some sweet footage of Marcus. High quality stuff too. You know how Carl gets down. After diggin in the drives for awhile we ended up with grip of stuff from Stockwell and a couple others so it was definately a productive trip. Working hard out here. Whats this the third blog 15 minutes? Good luck on the Colorado roadtrip fellas.

AB Comes Through. True.

We just recieved some cool clips from St. Louis. Alex Broskow had called me up after gettin home from a month long Valo Euro Tour and wanted to know if he had enough time to film some final hour clips. Of course we made time for him and he took the train out to STL last week to hang with the infamous Dan Leifeld and film with my main man Ryan Powell. This is a self-portrait that Alex sent me of him and his skates and a poster of him. Nice crib. Check the footy in Fade Nation. coming last week.

Bens Last Day

I figured it was time i did an update so here it goes.

This is some pictures of Ben trying to get a last minute banger before the sun went downon his last day to film with us before his long awaited vacation. We were digging deep for a weekday spot that he found suitable and ended up at this apartment complex that came complete with 10 kids asking him if he was gonna "bust a scarred fool" and reminding him that "that cops wont do shit to you man." I figured they were gonna ruin the day and then one of them went and hooked up a candle with the virgin mary from his moms secret stash and Ben was able to wax the deadly rail to drop, tune out the crazy pre-teen fans and do his thing all before the sun went down. Thanks Ben.
